What "Search by Vibe" Actually Means on Hidden Value
Every Pokémon card image on Hidden Value has been processed by an AI vision model that assigns 1 to 5 aesthetic tags based on what the artwork actually shows — colors, subject, biome, lighting, and art style.
Simple meaning: a real artist-style mood index of every card, built from the artwork itself.
The 🎨 Search Vibe button on Browse opens a dropdown where you pick those tags. The card grid filters to only show cards whose tags match your picks.
Two tiers: 10 vibe categories, 98 aesthetic chips
Click a category header to bulk-select every chip in it, or click chips one at a time. You can mix categories — for example pick Cute from Mood plus Pastel from Decor for a soft-pink themed page.
Why Pick Aesthetic Chips Instead of Searching by Card Name?
Searching by card name is useful when you already know the answer. Vibe search is useful when you are still discovering — when you want a kind of card, not a specific one.
Use vibe search when you want to find:
- Cards for a themed binder page (cozy, dark ghost, ocean, etc.)
- Cards with a specific color palette (Pastel, Neon, Monochrome, Holographic)
- Cards in a specific art style (Watercolor, Pixel art, Manga, Stained glass)
- Cards with specific subjects (Sleeping Pokémon, With trainer, Evolution line)
- Cards from a specific biome (Forest, Beach, Mountain, Cave)
- Underrated cards you would never find by name
- Cards that match a wishlist or future buy queue
- Cards that fit a content-creation theme
Traditional search answers: "Where is this exact card?"
Vibe search answers: "Which cards look like this?"
Open Browse, tap the 🎨 Search Vibe button, pick a few aesthetic chips, and watch the card grid filter to match the mood, biome, or art style you picked.
How to Use Vibe Search on Hidden Value
Here is the exact UI flow on the Browse tab today.
Open Hidden Value
Go to usehiddenvalue.com and enter the app. There is no account required and no setup. Simple meaning: open the app and start exploring.
Go to Browse
From the main app navigation, open the Browse tab. Browse is where you can find any card across the full Pokémon TCG catalog, either inside a single set or across all sets at once.
Pokémon TCG = Pokémon Trading Card Game, the official Pokémon card game and collecting hobby.
Find the 🎨 Search Vibe button
On Browse, scroll the filter row above the card grid. You will see a button labeled 🎨 Search Vibe. It sits next to the rarity, type, and sort controls.
The same button is available in two places:
- Inside a single set — filter cards within just that set
- On the global "Search any card" row — filter cards across every set at once
Open the vibe picker
Click 🎨 Search Vibe. A dropdown opens with 10 vibe categories. Each category has a header you can click to bulk-select every chip in it, plus the individual chips beneath.
The 10 categories:
Pick the aesthetic chips you want
Click chips that describe the artwork you are looking for. You can pick from any category and combine across categories. There is no limit on how many you can pick.
Some good starting picks:
Choose ANY or ALL match
At the top of the dropdown is a Match toggle: ANY or ALL.
Simple meaning: ANY = OR, ALL = AND. Default is ANY because most collectors are exploring, not narrowing.
Review the matched cards
Close the dropdown (click the button again or click outside). The card grid filters live to only show cards whose visual tags match your picks.
Each card on the site has been visually tagged with up to 5 aesthetics, so the matches are based on the actual artwork — not the card name, set, or Pokédex number. Look at the artwork, the Pokémon, the rarity, and the price chip on each card.
Do not only look for expensive cards. Some of the best vibe matches are affordable cards with strong artwork — that is part of the point.
Stack other filters on top
Vibe search combines with the other filters on Browse:
- Text search — type a Pokémon name, artist name, or partial card text
- Set picker — limit results to one set
- Rarity — Illustration Rare, Special Illustration Rare, Hyper Rare, etc.
- Type — Fire, Water, Psychic, etc.
- Full Art mode — only show full-art and illustration-rare-style cards
Filters are AND across categories. So Cute + Pastel in vibes plus rarity Illustration Rare gives a clean themed binder shortlist.
Save the cards you like
Tap any matched card to open the card detail. From there you have two key buttons:
- ★ Save — adds the card to your wishlist or any custom list. The dropdown lets you create a new list inline.
- + Have — adds the card to your collection (you already own it).
Wishlist = cards you want but do not own yet — also doubles as a buy queue. Custom list = any group of cards you organize by theme. Examples: Cozy Binder Ideas, Dark Ghost Page, Buy Next.
Saving a card keeps your vibe search useful after you leave the page. It turns discovery into a real collection plan.
Build a binder page
Open Collection and go to the Binder tab. Drag cards from your saved lists into a 9-pocket page layout. Simple meaning: a virtual 9-pocket binder sheet you arrange yourself.
Use a vibe-matched custom list as the source. Pick the 9 best cards, drag them in, and rearrange until the page looks right.
Save vibe-matched cards to a custom list, then drag them into a 9-pocket binder page in the Collection tab.
Buy or track when ready
When a card has a Buy on TCGPlayer link, use it when the price and budget are right. After purchase, add the card to your collection so the Dashboard tracks value over time.
Raw = a card that is not professionally graded. Graded slab = a card sealed in a hard plastic case by a grading company.
Hidden Value is a Pokémon TCG portfolio tracker as well as a discovery tool — finding a card by vibe naturally connects to tracking what you paid versus what it is worth.

What to Do After You Find a Card
Each matched card opens a detail view. Here is what each action does.
How Vibe Search Helps Different Collectors
Casual collectors
If you do not know every card name or set, the chip picker lets you browse by feeling. Click Cute and discover cards from sets you have never opened. The 10 vibe categories are the index, not a memorization test.
Binder collectors
Pick chips that match a binder theme, save the best matches to a custom list, then open the Binder tab in Collection and drag them into a 9-pocket page. This is the most popular vibe search workflow on the site.
Wishlist collectors
Vibe search expands a name-based wishlist. Pick a vibe combo, save matches to your wishlist, and watch prices over time. When a card drops, your wishlist becomes a buy list.
Artwork collectors
The Style category exists for you. Pick Watercolor, Stained glass, Pencil sketch, or Manga to surface cards by art technique. Many of the best-tagged cards are affordable.
Content creators
Need a visually cohesive lineup for a video, post, or themed pack opening? Pick a vibe combo, save 9–12 matches to a list, and you have a ready-made shoot list.
Gift buyers
Buying a Pokémon card for someone else? Pick chips that match their style — Cute + Pastel + Floral for a gentle gift, Eerie + Gothic + Shadow for a darker collector, Beach + Sunny for a tropical fan.
Investors and portfolio collectors
Even if you primarily care about value, vibe search surfaces underrated artwork that can appreciate as collector demand grows for visually iconic cards. Pair it with the ROI tracking guide to manage discovery and value side by side.
If Hidden Value helped you discover cards, build a binder, track your collection, or make smarter buys, supporting the project helps fund better data, new features, and faster improvements.
☕ Support Hidden ValueFrequently Asked Questions
What does it mean to search Pokémon cards by vibe?+
Searching by vibe means filtering cards based on the artwork — the mood, biome, element, or art style — instead of by card name. Hidden Value uses an AI vision model to tag every card with up to 5 aesthetics, so the 🎨 Search Vibe filter on Browse returns cards whose artwork actually matches the picks you make.
Where is the vibe search on Hidden Value?+
Open the Browse tab. On the filter row you will see a button labeled 🎨 Search Vibe. Click it to open the dropdown of 10 vibe categories and 98 aesthetic chips. The same button is available both inside a single set and on the global "Search any card" row that searches across every set.
Do I type words like "cozy Pokémon cards" into a search bar?+
No. Vibe search on Hidden Value is a chip picker, not a text input. You click chips like Cute, Homey, Cottage-core, Pastel, or Sleeping in the 🎨 Search Vibe dropdown. The text search bar is separate and matches names, not vibes.
What are the 10 vibe categories?+
Mood, Subject, Biome, Element, Place, Atmosphere, Style, Decor, Activity, and Theme. Each category groups several aesthetic chips. Click a category header to bulk-select every chip in that category, or click chips one at a time.
How does the ANY vs ALL toggle work?+
ANY (the default) shows cards that match at least one of your selected aesthetics — broad and discovery-friendly. ALL shows only cards that match every single aesthetic you picked — narrow and precise. The toggle sits at the top of the 🎨 Search Vibe dropdown.
Can I combine vibes with other filters?+
Yes. Vibes stack on top of text search, set, rarity, type, and Full Art mode. The other filters apply on top of the vibe-matched card pool. Combine "Cute + Pastel" with rarity Illustration Rare for a clean themed binder page.
How do I save a card I find through vibe search?+
Tap any matched card to open it. The detail view has ★ Save (wishlist or any custom list) and + Have (add to your collection). Custom lists let you group cards by theme — for example a list called "Cozy Binder" or "Dark Ghost Page".
Can I buy Pokémon cards directly from a vibe search?+
When TCGPlayer purchase links are available, Hidden Value shows a Buy on TCGPlayer button on the card detail. Save first, compare second, buy when the price and budget match. Some purchase links may support the project at no extra cost to you.
How are the vibe tags assigned?+
Every card image is processed by an AI vision model that assigns 1 to 5 aesthetic tags based on what it sees in the artwork — colors, subject, biome, lighting, art style, and so on. Coverage as of this writing is 98 of 99 sets and roughly 15,000 cards.
Why are some cards not appearing in vibe results?+
A small number of sets are still being tagged. Cards from untagged sets will not appear in vibe matches yet — they show up in text and rarity search as normal. Coverage grows automatically as new sets are processed.
Can I use vibe search to plan a 9-pocket binder page?+
Yes. Pick a vibe combination, save 12–20 matches to a custom list, narrow it to 9, then use the Binder tab in Collection to drag them into a 9-pocket page layout. This is one of the most popular vibe search workflows.
Is Hidden Value free?+
Yes. Hidden Value is a free indie tool with no account required. If it helps you discover, build a binder, or track your collection, supporting the project keeps it running and improving.
