I got deep into Pokémon TCG sealed investing and quickly realized that none of the existing apps were built for what I actually needed. PriceCharting is great for card values. Collector apps track what you own. But nobody was helping me answer the question I cared about most: what is my real cost basis, and what am I actually making?
So I did what any collector with a spreadsheet addiction would do — I built one in Excel. Then I made it better. Then I tried to make a real dashboard in Excel and hit every limitation the program has. Conditional formatting only gets you so far.
At some point I thought: I know enough to just build a website. Not a product, not a startup — just something that works the way my brain works, for my portfolio, for me.
So I did. And then I kept adding things. Lot-level cost tracking. Real P&L calculations. A card browser with live prices. A sell scenario calculator. A binder. A wishlist. A camera scanner that reads cards. International language support.
Somewhere in there I looked at what I had built and thought: this is actually a real product that other collectors could use.
HiddenValue has been in active development for just over a month. In that time it's gone from a personal tracker to a full platform with a portfolio analyzer, market intelligence feed, browse tools, custom lists, graded card support, multi-currency, 10 languages, and more.
It's still early. Some things are rough around the edges — that's why it's in beta. But the foundation is real, the data model is solid, and it's already doing things no other Pokémon TCG tool does.
